Frequently Asked Questions

Over the years the Vic Gathering committee has been asked many question, and have to answer the same questions on many occasions, so before you try to contact us, please read through these Frequently Asked Questions and hopefully one of them will be able to answer your question.

Please note this page is yet to be updated for 2009 so some answers may not have the correct information, I will have a notice here when this page is up-to-date!

Thanks - Donna

Q: I am 18, may I still attend VG with my Venturer Unit?

A: The answer to this one is, no, not as a Venturer.  But you can join your local Rover Crew and come up and help on the weekend.

Q: Is it possible to catch public transport to VG this year?

A: Unfortunately the closest train is Belgrave, and I’m not sure whether there are many bus routes that go past Gilwell.

Q: Will food be available to be purchased on site or do I have to bring my own?

A:  Yes food will be available to purchase over the whole weekend.  Check out the Canteen list for what they have.

Q: What activities are there going to be on the weekend?

A:  You can check out the activities list on the website.  This list will be updated as we get closer to VG 2009.

Q: Can we still come to VG if we do not have a leader with us?

A: Yes you can still come to VG if you don’t have a leader with you.  You can either be hosted by another Unit or you can go into the Creche, although there is a cost of this.

Q: Why does our leader have to camp with us Venturers? They always complain that we make too much noise on Saturday night and they can't sleep.

A: VG is a great way for your Leader to catch up with you, but also to catch up with other Leaders and yes your Leader has to camp with you as a Unit.  You should be getting some sleep too!

Q: Why Can't all the leaders camp together and let their venturers do their own thing?

A:

Q: Can we bring our own music and play it in our campsites?

A:

Q: Can we bring our own soft drinks to VG?

A:

Q: Where can we get all the right forms and who do we give it to?

A: All the forms will be available on the website, as well as you will receive them all in a Unit mailout that will go out before the September school holidays.

Q: Will Leaders/ Rovers car be allowed to be parked on the campsite?

A: No, all cars, apart from the VG Committee cars will be parked in the relative car parks.  No cars are allowed on site, apart from VG Committee cars until after 2.30 pm on Sunday 6th December.
